Tommy Dietrick is a billboard credited Producer / Engineer with over 2 decades of experience. In addition to his studio work, his contributions to music culture include founding one of the nation's first independent music festivals, performing across the USA, UK, Europe and Australia and designing high-end microphones with his boutique Customm brand of mics. In 2016 he moved his studio, Skylab, from Encino to Joshua Tree and began a new chapter as a destination recording studio.

My fascination with music began at an early age. Growing up I was entranced by top 40 radio, LPs of the 60s, 70s & 80s as well as all forms of modern music. In my teenage years, I began  writing music and quickly discovered I had an appreciation for the art of recording. By age 17, I was tracking daily on a 4 track cassette recorder. In 2001, I built my first studio - Skylab. My goal was to create a space where I could help others to pursue their unique creative visions. After an incredible 15 year run in Encino, California, I relocated the studio to Joshua Tree in 2016 and began a new chapter as Joshua Tree Recording Studio.

This journey through music has taken me across oceans and countries and given me the skills to help others achieve their creative potential. Today, with over 2 decades of professional production experience and having had my own songs on radio, in movies, video games and commercials, I still feel that same enthusiasm that captured me as a teenager. My obsession with capturing the best sound, performance and energy has never waned. I have worked alongside many highly established artists, up and coming bands as well as new comers just finding their unique voice. I treat each and every artist who works here with respect and a personal willingness to create the best possible result.
